The Final Guardian:
When fighting your shadow, move to the lefthand side of the screen
and continuously press the B button. Your shadow may hit you once or 
twice, but you should land many more strikes during that time. 
  
Sword Skills:
To discover the art of the upward attack, go to Darunia and use the 
jump spell to leap up to the house with a chimney. Drop down this and 
go right to find the warrior who will teach you the skills. 
The downward attack is found in Mido town. Use the jump spell to reach 
the open door at the top of the church, and go through to find the man in 
the know.

Awesome Power-up:
If you have a character on your cartridge who has completed the first
quest and is on the second quest, bring him to one of the palaces. After
he has placed the crystal in the statue, his experience points will raise
rapidly. At that time press UP and A on controller 2, select save and then
use a new character. When you bring this new character into the game it's 
experience points will rise fast.
